Meet The Staff

Brandy Snodgrass

Trainer / Coach

Brandy Snodgrass started her riding career at the age of 3 years old. Since that age, her entire life has been devoted to the equine industry. Successfully competing from the age of 9 years and older she earned top ribbons in the Hunter/ Jumper disciplines. Her competitions took her all over the A show circuit showing in upper level classes. She also successfully placed 2nd at the Pennsylvania National Horse Show.

At the age of 17 years old, Brandy decided to begin her teaching career by coaching the IUPUI equestrian team. Throughout the two years as coach, the team was very successful and finished with top honors. She continued to teach throughout college and also her show career at several top Hunter/Jumper facilities. Many of the riders she started are still riding to this day and have become extremely successful in their own careers. While earning a Business Management Degree from Ball State University, Brandy also worked as an Exercise Jockey for a Racehorse farm in Muncie, IN. Duties included breaking and training up to 50 racehorses per season and teaching them everything from the start of their careers right up to their first race day and also exercising them at the track.

After College, she decided a change was needed and moved to Orlando, Florida. There she spent 4 years working as a performer for Arabian Nights dinner theater under the direct training of a top dressage rider. Starting a family in her late 20s, Brandy decided it was time to move back to Indiana. After a short time adjusting, she decided it was time to get back to her goals and dreams. Starting back training at a small local barn, she built up a strong clientele base that kept growing and growing. The birth of the Central Indiana Equestrian Team was born in 2014. With the equestrian team now becoming the soul of her farm and promoting even more growth over the next few years the birth of Kolowa Equestrian became a reality in January 2019.

Liz Williams

Assistant Trainer

Liz Landman Williams began riding at the age of 3 in Zionsville, IN. As a young child, she was competitive
at the regional shows on her pony Lucky and later her horse, Roman Law. She began giving lessons as a
teen and has been giving lessons ever since. During her time at college, she spent a summer and her
junior year in England, where she spent MUCH more time in the barn than in actual classes….but don’t
let her family know! I mean, going foxhunting on your favorite school master is an education too, right?

In England, she caught the dressage bug, and decided to focus on seat, balance, and contact in order to
further her conversations with the horses she rides. This led to eventually moving to New York, and
studying with Lendon Gray, an internationally acclaimed 2-time Olympian, who furthered her love for
dressage and instilled the importance of flat work, no matter what the discipline one chooses.

Liz made her way back to Indianapolis after riding in New York and Florida and teaching at uncountable
number of barns. While no longer actively competing, she is enjoying spending time working with
students and their horses and using the skills she has worked for decades to make her own.

Kristina Lewis

Barn Care Manager

I work here at Kolowa full time, caring and looking after the horses and help keep the barn kept up and clean! I own my own horse here as well named Riversong. She is a thoroughbred mare who loves to nicker at anyone who drives up to the barn and is always looking for someone to pet her!

I began riding at the age of 7 and got my own horse when I was 12. I loved running in the pasture or through the woods with my Arabian bareback. I never knew that horses would become a career at the time. I started showing 4-H when I was 15 in all disciplines. In my second year of 4-H, I had narrowed it down that I wanted to do either contesting, or dressage. While I still love the speed of contesting, my passion is in dressage. I have pursued dressage riding ever since.  I am aspiring to one day compete in the Olympics or Grand Prix.

Meet The Little Family

Kolowa’s Small Children Patience Trainers and Feed Schedule Keepers!

Donkey and Dixie

Donkey is a 20 year old mini gelding donkey and Dixie is a 2 year old mini female donkey. Both donkeys will be sure to grab your attention with their loud brays, especially if they feel you are holding out treats on them! Donkey has our feed schedule down to the minute and will happily announce when dinner time is for all of the horses at the farm. If we don’t feed him right at that time, he will happily share 15 minute reminders until his dinner arrives each day! We are very thankful for all of his help! Donkey is very tame and has been a staple of our farm his whole life. Dixie is still working on trusting all of these new humans that enter her life each day, but is definitely trying her hardest. Both donkeys prove that size does not equal strength when we try to get them to do anything they don’t wish too. Holy cow are they strong!

Frankie and Minnie

Frankie and Minnie are our 2 mini horses! Frankie is a 3 year old black and white paint gelding. Minnie is turning 9 and is a chestnut and white mini paint mare. Both are rideable and Frankie has even pulled a sled on our snow days at the farm. One day soon, we hope to get them trained to pull a team cart so we can go to parades or stroll around the countryside! Wouldn’t that be so much fun!

Meet Our Lesson Horses

Valentino

We are excited to introduce Valentino into our lesson horse program! Valentino is a 10 year old, 16.2 hand Thoroughbred gelding. He is big bodied and very beautiful! Valentino has excelled in the jumper ring in the past with his owner! While she is away at college, Valentino will continue his journey with us helping train our many riders! Valentino has also been a flat horse for our IEA shows and has worked our summer camps. We are very happy he is joining our team for the next year!

Hudson

Hudson is a 17 year old Warmblood/Quarter Horse cross gelding. He stands 15.3 hands tall and is such a wonderfully quiet guy. Hudson teaches beginner through advanced lessons and is one of our IEA Horses that is a team favorite! He also travels the local show circuit and even has dabbled in a few A circuit shows allowing his riders to get an idea of what it’s like to show at these types of events! He is definitely a barn favorite!

Delilah

Delilah is a 14 year old paint Mustang mare. She is 14 hands tall and is so strong and well built! She began her teaching career with us about a year ago and has become such a wonderful addition to our program. She teaches novice thorough advanced lessons and provides a little more sass than our beginner lesson horses to help further your knowledge of riding! She also has dabbled in a few local shows and IEA shows and will continue with her experiences in the years to come!

Regal

Regal is a 15 year old Holsteiner warmblood gelding. He stands 16.2 hands. He teaches intermediate through advanced lessons. Regal has done the local show circuit, the “A” show circuit and IEA shows as well as being a former eventing horse. He is well educated; providing a nice learning experience to those riders that have a bit more experience under their belts!

Vizir

Vizir is a 16.2 hand 10 year old Thoroughbred gelding. Vizir just recently started his teaching career with us a few months ago. He is such a big strong guy and is very willing to learn with a quiet disposition! We look forward to him becoming more educated and really turning into a top notch teaching partner!

Sam

Sam is our back bone of our program. This guy is the best of the best. He teaches beginners from 3 years old and up and takes nothing but the best care of his riders. He shows in everything from groundpoles to 2’6” jumpers to the hunter ring and wins. This guy can do it all. He is a sweet as he can be, with a bit too much personality on most days, always keeping it fun and entertaining to be around.

Dia

With as much sass as she has beauty, Dia keeps our students learning how to ride quietly and softly but effectively. She is small but mighty. She is an essential part of our program. She has brought her riders to top ribbons in the hunter and equitation rings.
