Brandy Snodgrass

Trainer / Coach

Brandy Snodgrass started her riding career at the age of 3 years old. Since that age, her entire life has been devoted to the equine industry. Successfully competing from the age of 9 years and older she earned top ribbons in the Hunter/ Jumper disciplines. Her competitions took her all over the A show circuit showing in upper level classes. She also successfully placed 2nd at the Pennsylvania National Horse Show.

At the age of 17 years old, Brandy decided to begin her teaching career by coaching the IUPUI equestrian team. Throughout the two years as coach, the team was very successful and finished with top honors. She continued to teach throughout college and also her show career at several top Hunter/Jumper facilities. Many of the riders she started are still riding to this day and have become extremely successful in their own careers. While earning a Business Management Degree from Ball State University, Brandy also worked as an Exercise Jockey for a Racehorse farm in Muncie, IN. Duties included breaking and training up to 50 racehorses per season and teaching them everything from the start of their careers right up to their first race day and also exercising them at the track.

After College, she decided a change was needed and moved to Orlando, Florida. There she spent 4 years working as a performer for Arabian Nights dinner theater under the direct training of a top dressage rider. Starting a family in her late 20s, Brandy decided it was time to move back to Indiana. After a short time adjusting, she decided it was time to get back to her goals and dreams. Starting back training at a small local barn, she built up a strong clientele base that kept growing and growing. The birth of the Central Indiana Equestrian Team was born in 2014. With the equestrian team now becoming the soul of her farm and promoting even more growth over the next few years the birth of Kolowa Equestrian became a reality in January 2019.

Audrey Hostrawser

Intern/Working Student

I’m Audrey and I’ve been riding since I was about 6 years old. I have been riding with Brandy the past 5 years, and have made so much progress since. I am on the Central Indiana Equestrian Team for IEA and have been for 4 years already; I also have been in 4H, showed at the county fair, and participated in multiple out-of-state USEF recognized horse shows. As a working student at Kolowa, I am beyond looking forward to starting and/or continuing students’ riding journeys, as well as the expanding the Kolowa family.

Kristina Lewis

Barn Care Manager

I work here at Kolowa full time, caring and looking after the horses and help keep the barn kept up and clean! I own my own horse here as well named Riversong. She is a thoroughbred mare who loves to nicker at anyone who drives up to the barn and is always looking for someone to pet her!

I began riding at the age of 7 and got my own horse when I was 12. I loved running in the pasture or through the woods with my Arabian bareback. I never knew that horses would become a career at the time. I started showing 4-H when I was 15 in all disciplines. In my second year of 4-H, I had narrowed it down that I wanted to do either contesting, or dressage. While I still love the speed of contesting, my passion is in dressage. I have pursued dressage riding ever since.  I am aspiring to one day compete in the Olympics or Grand Prix.

Donkey

Hi! I’m Donkey. I’m a 10 year old miniature donkey gelding and my duties around this farm include keeping these humans on a tight feeding schedule for me and our fellow horse friends (trust me, the humans know when our dinner is even 5 minutes late! This can never be tolerated.) I also really like to make sure that all of the children’s mothers’ feel very welcome and loved by giving them all gigantic kisses each and every day. My humans really seem to like that we are so nice to people and give us lots of treats for it! I have also heard our humans say that I am very good at teaching patience to them and to all of the children that come our way. I do get a good giggle when the kids try and bath me. I hope you will come out to say hello as well! I love meeting new people!
